According to communication theory, two-way communication is more effective than one-way communication because there is more interaction between the sender and the receiver. Keeping this in mind, I therefore establish my teaching philosophy as: being an enthusiastic instructor and making learning fun and interactive.
First, I believe that enthusiasm is the key. As the instructor, I am the information sender during the communication with my students. How enthusiastic an information sender is can influence the extent to which students attend to and process the information they receive.
Second, I believe that interaction can improve learning. Interaction is the key idea of two-way communication and facilitates the information flow between people. Moreover, due to interaction, students are no longer passive information receivers but active information seekers.
Third, I believe that technology can enhance the interactivity and therefore improve students’ learning experiences. Young people today are obsessed with new technology and the interactivity of the tools enhances their enthusiasm in learning.
